She married James Charles Herr on August 13, 1949. Together they raised their three children in Fort Worth, Texas. Leona is preceded in death by her husband Jim Herr; daughter, Christine Stecker; 9 brothers and sisters; and great-granddaughter.
Survivors: daughter, Kathryn and husband Mark McCandless; son, Bruce and wife Sondra Herr; grandchildren, Jeanie Ballew, Mark McCandless Jr., Heather McCandless, Preston Herr, Dustin Stecker, and Lindsey Stecker; 16 great- grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Hellstrom; and brother Bill Drake. She will be missed by all who knew her.
