HIGHLAND VILLAGE -- Lewis Nelson Powell, 95, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel.
Lewis was born September 17, 1918 to Hudson and Elsie "Patterson" Powell in Handley, TX. He served in the Navy for six years during World War II. Lewis retired from Texas Electric. He was a longtime member of the Sagamore Hill Baptist Church and was always volunteering his time to the church. He and his wife Mary traveled extensively and loved going new places. Lewis loved his family and will be greatly missed.
His is preceded in death by his parents and sister.
Survivors: Wife of 65 years, Mary Powell; daughter, Patty and husband John Tripp; grandson, Michael Tripp and wife Michell; great grandson, Caleb Tripp; brother, Roy Powell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
