OBITUARY

Linda ALRIDGE

February 10, 1940January 2, 2020

On February 10, 1940, Linda Ann Hayes was born to Bernice and Charles Hayes in Fort Worth, Texas. She was the third of four children. Linda graduated from I.M. Terrell in 1959. She attended Huston-Tillotson College and Texas Southern University where she studied business administration.

She had one son, Johnny Ivory Younger, Jr., who preceded her in death.

Linda was a member of Beth Eden Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an active member. She was a very giving person, always helping where she could and where the need arose.

Linda was an Administrative Assistant for 16 years at the Theresa B. Lee Academy where she was highly respected for her organizational and management skills. During her tenure, she had an outstanding record with the Texas Education Agency. Students would often seek out Mrs. Alridge for advice and counsel.

On October 28, 1972, Linda married Waymon Alridge. They were inseparable for 48 years.

In spite of being blind in one eye, LInda was an avid reader. She went to the library regularly and read 3 to 4 books a week.

On Tuesday, January 2, 2020, Linda left her earthly home to be with The Lord. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Hayes; son, Johnny Younger, Jr.; step-father, Delbert Gardner, Sr. and mother, Bernice Jewel Gardner.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband, Waymon Alridge; siblings, Betty Mobley, Jack Hayes (Melanie), Nancy Henry (Carver), Del Gardner, Jr. (Tammy), Ava Stevenson; nieces, Sheryl Craft, Mia Gardner (Bill), Kanan B.Henry, Jennifer Gardner, Kimberly Edwards (Rock), Kristen Dellinger (Scott); nephews, Kevin Hayes, Stuart L. Pradia, Jonathan Gardner, Stephen Gardner; great-nieces and great-nephews, Camille Edwards, Brooke Edwards, Jillian Byrdsong, Christopher Byrdsong, Carter Gardner, Mikaela Gardner, Madison Gardner, Jonathan Gardner, Jr. and the light of her life, Kai Lee Henry-Brown.

She also leaves her supportive godson, Rev. James Christopher.
