Linda Kay Spradley was born in Weatherford, OK, August 8, 1940, and she passed from this life Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Fort Worth, TX. She had just turned 85. She is survived by her husband, Joe of their home in Fort Worth; by her son Joseph Bryant Spradley III (Joby) of Alvarado; by two grandchildren: Johnathan Bryant Spradley and Kelsey Michelle Spradley, both of Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Paul Spradley, who was killed in a tragic automobile accident, in 1991 at the age of 18. Others preceding her in death include her parents Milton Curtis Webb and Elma Iris Arney; and a brother, Ronnie Webb.
Linda was baptized into Christ as a young teenager and remained faithful until death. Joe and Linda moved to the Fort Worth area in the year after their marriage, that is, in September of 1969. They attended the Trentman Avenue Church of Christ for many years until it relocated to Green Oaks Blvd. in South Arlington.
Linda graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, OK, and then earned a two-year degree at Oklahoma Christian College and a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Oklahoma State University. She completed her teaching credentials at Southwestern Branch of OSU in Weatherford, OK.
Her first professional assignment was teaching third grade in Oklahoma City. After marrying Joe and moving to Texas, she was a housewife and mother until the boys started to school. Then, she took a position in the Special Education Department in the Everman Independent School District.
Besides being a faithful Bible student, Linda was a singer. She became interested in music at an early age under the influence of her father who was also a musician. Before her marriage, she performed in musicals in community theater in Oklahoma City. Her voice made a valuable contribution to any congregation she attended, and she was especially appreciated at her home congregation in Arlington. Back in the day when small groups sang for funerals, Linda was always among the first invited because of her strong voice.
Linda remained a student all of her life, always taking advantage of every opportunity to learn. She was a regular Bible reader, and she had a phenomenal memory; thus, she was well-versed in the teachings of the scriptures.
A visitation for Linda will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Green Oaks Church of Christ, 4601 SW Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76017.
