

Lionel Carlos, Sr., husband, father, and brother passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
He was born to James Carlos Jr and Rosalind (Kline) Carlos on October 20, 1943, in Paterson, NJ. After graduating from Central High School in Newark, NJ in 1962, he married his high school sweetheart Joyce McDaniels in 1964. Two children were born to his union, Lionel Carlos Jr and Roxanne Carlos.
Lionel attended college to learn how to draft plans in many trades including Civil, Structural, and MEP. When economic times were challenging, he worked as a carpenter. These trades took him to Pittsburgh, Houston, and finally Austin where he started working for Freese and Nichols, Inc. He also met his future wife, Sandra Triplett, there and together they had a daughter, Sharon Carlos. Lionel was transferred to the Fort Worth office in 1991 where he stayed and raised his family until Sandra's passing in 2003.
After a brief stay in San Antonio, Lionel moved back to Fort Worth where he retired from Freese and Nichols after over 20 years of service. He met his blessing, Loretta Murriel, who made his last years meaningful with the love and care of her daughter Ciara Choice.
Lionel Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Glenn Carlos & William Mills Jr, and nieces Glenda Primus, Kinda Parker, & Eva Wright. He is survived by his wife Loretta, son Lionel Carlos, Jr, daughters Roxanne Carlos, Sharon Sesler, & Ciara Choice, grandchildren Dallas Patterson & Sierra Buzalsky, nieces Yvonne Carlos, Monic Carlos Redding, Susangail Carlos Hoffman, and Deanna Kitchens, nephews William Wright and William Mills III, and many family members and friends.
