Lola Faye Felix was born February 8, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas to Mattie Ree Felix (Richardson) and Clarence Felix. She attended elementary school, middle and high school in the Paul Lawrence Dunbar school system, graduating from PL Dunbar High School in 1970. She met and married roley Lee Sparks, Jr. in 1972. Lola was affectionately called many things, Mommy, Mom, Mama, Mama Sparks, Lola Faye, Faye, "Face", Red; and Sister Lola by her loving family, church members, and closest friends. In the early hours of August 1, 2025, she passed away peacefully, enveloped by her faithful and dutiful daughter, Kesha and her dear son Dezmond. Lola Faye was 73 years old and was loved deeply. Wherever "Mommy" went, she made an impact. Her vibrant, youthful spirit and her b ig boisterous laugh filled the room and even if you weren't laughing, you started when you heard her laugh ! She was feisty and sometimes impatient, but if you knew her, you knew that was just who she was. She was on time for everything and by on time, that means early, never late. She expected the same from everyone. Mom didn't always have much, but what she had she openly and willingly gave, without question. A very empathetic woman, she felt other's joy and pain too. Mommy fiercely loved her tow children and would do anything for them, no matter the cost or the sacrifice. She showed up when we needed her. She was always there, without fail. She also loved her church and her church family. She served by singing in the choir and volunteering with the women's ministry. She was a longstanding and loyal member of New Fellowship Church. Mommy will always and forever be missed by her children, Kesha Howard and Dezmond Stevens, her grandson Traveras Johnson, her great-granddaughter Phenyx Johnson, her aunt Vernia Kennedy and a host of beloved cousins, friends and associates. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Ree Felix, Father, Clarence Felix, sister Dorothy Neil Jones, brother, Willie Felix and her husband Roley Lee Sparks, Jr.
We gather to honor the life and beautiful legacy of an amazing mother, grandmother, Mother-in-love, family member and friend. Well done Mommy. Your spirit will live on in us. We love you. Thank you for everthing.
