

Louis Marvin Hengst, 88, of North Richland Hills, Tx joined his Lord and Savior on Saturday evening, November 4, 2017 at Medical City North Hills Hospital. Service: 3:00 pm Thursday Nov 9, 2017 at Laurel Land Main Chapel. Visitation: 5 pm to 7 pm Wednesday, at Laurel Land. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. He was born in Thorndale, Tx on November 23, 1928 to Oscar and Alma ( Niemtschk) Hengst. Louis was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Thorndale. He was raised on a farm, together with his six siblings. Louis lost his father in a one - car accident when he was in elementary school. Like his brothers, Louis served our country in the armed forces. The U. S. Army deployed him to a war zone during the Korean Conflict. where he suffered partial hearing impairment from fired artillery rounds. He returned home and married Annie Mae Arldt on October 18, 1952. While working full-time to support his young family, Louis also pursued an engineering degree, becoming the first college graduate in his family. He became an engineering professional, retiring from Lockheed Martin in 1997, but throughout his life he maintained his early connection to farming by gardening. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; Roy and Clarence Hengst, and Alice Melcher; and daughter-in-law Linda ( Dew) Hengst. Louis is survived by wife, Annie Mae Hengst; children, Gary Hengst of Rowlett, TX; Rhonda Mahan, and husband Larry of Mt. Vernon, TX; Sandra Dunn and husband Harvey of Loveland, CO, Duane Hengst and wife Stacey of Fort Worth, TX, Karla Petty and husband Gary of Fort Worth, TX, Timothy Hengst and wife Beth of Boone, NC; siblings, Bernice Kelm and husband Harvey of Thorndale, TX; Gladys Moerbe of Lubbock, TX; and Eldee Hengst and wife Delores of Thorndale; twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
