

BURLESON -- Louis G. Hunter Jr., 82, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, in Fort Worth. Service: 11:30 a.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 390 SE John Jones, Burleson. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Louis was born June 10, 1933, in Coleman to Louis G. and Bobbie Hunter and grew up in El Paso. While at Brigham Young University, Lou met and married Catherine Moody. He graduated from BYU in 1958 (BSME) and 1963 (MSME) and the University of Tennessee in 1969 (Ph.D.). As an aerospace engineer, Lou worked six years at the Arnold Engineering Development Center in Tennessee. He later worked for and retired from Lockheed in Fort Worth in 2002. While there, Lou submitted 13 patents to the U.S. Patent Department. Lou served three years full time in the Air Force and 18 years in the Reserve, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1993. He also was math and science department chair at Motlow State Community College, taught part-time at Tarrant County College and Hill College in Burleson, retiring from teaching in January 2015 at age 81. Lou was very congenial, loved to be outdoors, play the keyboard, swim, cheer on BYU sports teams and do genealogy. World history fascinated him and he often wrote in his journal about current and past events. Lou was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patti. Survivors: His wife of 56 years; their children, Steve, Becky, Julianna (and Cody), Jeff (and Laurie), Kate and Blake; nine grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Anne, Barbara and Rich.
