Lucia Escobar Martinez, 84, went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 29, 2026. Born on March 3, 1942, in Dallas, Texas, Lucia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose uplifting warmth and deep faith touched everyone around her.
Lucia dedicated over 20 years of her life to working as a housekeeper, where her strong work ethic and natural compassion led her to become a beloved caregiver to a close circle of dear friends. Among her most cherished times were creating memories with her grandsons, Vicente, Julien, and Aidan, forging deep, lasting bonds that remained central throughout her life.
A lifelong, faithful parishioner of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in North Richland Hills, Texas, Lucia lived grounded in pure devotion to God. In recent years, her days were filled with church activities and spending time at the Haltom City Senior Center, where she connected with dear friends and discovered a vibrant artistic talent.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Placido Martinez Jr.; daughter, Ana Maria Martinez; grandson, Eduardo Saldivar; father, Rosario Escobar; mother, Josephine Escobar Alvarez; and sister, Dolores Escobar Giddings.
Lucia’s love and legacy lives on through her surviving family: Daughter, Diana Saldivar and husband Victor; son, Placido Gaspar Martinez and wife Lacretia; grandchildren, Vicente Saldivar and wife Jamie; Julien Martinez and Claire Schwettmann, and Aidan Martinez and Blake Howard; Neal and Sutton Glazner, Nicholas Glazner and Allie and Craig Calvert; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Saldivar, Casen, Carter and Cord Calvert, sister, Isidra Escobar Chapa; brothers, Florencio Escobar and wife Virginia, Roy Escobar and wife Naomi, and Rick Escobar and wife Reyna; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
She will be forever missed and remembered through the enduring power of faith, love, and prayer.
