Lucy Von Faram, of Ft. Worth, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the age of 90 years, 3 days. Lucy Von, or Mema, as she was affectionately known, was born to Oakley Hunter and Birdie Frances Spradley on October 8, 1927, in Dallas. She was the oldest of 5 children. Lucy spent her early years growing up in McGregor, Texas and then moved to Ft. Worth, graduating from Trimble Tech High School where she was a cheerleader for many years. It was after graduation that she met and married Harold Eugene Faram, and spent the remainder of her life in Ft. Worth. She and Gene had 3 children and many wonderful years together before his death in 1993. Lucy began her working career working as a desk clerk for many hotels/motels in the Fort Worth and Dallas area. Later she began her final career with Tarrant County Junior College in the bookstore at the south campus, and retired from there in 1992. She was an outgoing, independent lady, who loved beautiful things in life, and was able to stay in her home until her death. Just this past Sunday, she was able to attend worship services at her church, Worth Baptist, and enjoyed an evening dinner with her family at Saltgrass to celebrate her 90th birthday. Mema was a “prissy woman” and enjoyed getting all “dolled up” for church or spending an evening of dancing with her companion, Beryle Lankford. She enjoyed the simple things in life, being outdoors, and beautiful flowers and gardens. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and family functions, her church, and spending an evening of playing 84 with friends. Mema touched many lives in her 90 years and was loved by many and will be missed dearly by everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene, brothers, O.H. (Sonny) Spradley, Jr. and Sam Spradley, and great granddaughter, Trinity Ann Faram. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Garrsion and her husband Jim of Ft. Worth; sons, David Faram and his wife Gayle of Lawton, OK, and Steve Faram and his wife Jane of Everman; her companion of 17 years, Beryle Lankford of Everman and his family; brothers, Don Spradley and his wife Virginia, and Lesley Spradley and his wife Yogi; sister in law, Lavena Spradley and Jan Spradley; grandchildren, Clint (Monica) Faram, Lindsey (Troy) McKnight, Heather (Paul) Slicker, Brook (Jerry) Flores, Courtney Garrison, Lacey (Matt) Roznovsky, Justin Faram, and Brad (Liz) Faram; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; special friend and caregiver, Vivian Prohaska; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 5pm-7pm Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth. Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 16, 2017, at Worth Baptist Church in Fort Worth with burial following at Greenwood Memorial Park with her grandson and grandsons in laws serving as pallbearers.
