She was from Medellin, Colombia. Being one of the oldest of her siblings, she had to quit school in the 5th grade to help to take care of her 6 brothers and sisters because her father was debilitated in his late 30s. She came to this country in 1972 at 22yo with nothing. She raised two children as a single mom, making sure her boys had everything they needed, even if she didn’t. With the little English she spoke she began working odd jobs and then started cleaning houses. She met many special people cleaning houses, many becoming very close to her, building friendships and many treating her like family, because of the special person she was. Through the years she would see other women with similar struggles coming to this country and would help them find jobs with the connections she made in her life. When her sons were in middle school, she became an esthetician and retired from that work in 2020 at 69 years old. She built a safe, secure, and joyful life, and we are so proud of all she accomplished. She brought so much laughter and joy to this world, and she will be missed, but never forgotten.
Magdalena was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Orlando and Luis. She is survived by her brother Antonio, her sisters Yolanda, Socorro, and Janneth, her oldest son Alex (Cassandra) and their children Cristian, Donovan, Elle and her youngest son Donny (Christi) and their children Avery, Hallie, and Maggie.
