Margaret was born on April 22, 1930 in Fort Worth, Texas. Margaret spent her entire life serving the Lord and the church, fully devoted to Sagamore Hills Baptist Church. She was baptized at six years old. She played the piano beautifully for the youth choir in junior and senior high school, as well as various Sunday school departments for over forty years.
Her piano bench was packed with hymnals, filled with endless songs that brought her and all of her dinner guests profound joy. If she wasn’t watching her beloved Dallas Mavericks, she was singing along to worship music on the radio or television. As much as she loved watching championship tennis, she still preferred choir practice over a scintillating rally between Nadal (her favorite) and Federer.
She competed in the tennis city finals in 9th grade, and then fifty years later she’d celebrate first place in the Super Seniors Championship. She met Howard at Poly High School, they went on a date, and ultimately spent the next sixty years growing the church and helping anybody in need. They loved their kids and grandkids, and would drive any distance, in any weather conditions, to see each of them play ball.
Together they’d teach and build community at Sagamore youth summer camp as dean of men and dean of women. After 28 years as sales assistant at MISCO, she’d join the Woodhaven Ladies Tennis Association and enjoy league competition.
Margaret is survived by her two sons, David and Donny, her four grandchildren, Doug, Matt, Ben and Jake, and her great grandchildren, Chase, Everett and Hudson.
The family will always remember her as “Granny” and will miss her dearly. She loved her family and friends and church more than anything.
