It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Espinoza, who left us on May 28, 2025, at the age of 82. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, in-law, and aunt. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Maria Ramirez Espinoza was born on February 25, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Arturo and Rosa Ramirez. She built her life in Fort Worth, where she was known for her kindness, warmth, and remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. Maria was admired for having the patience of a saint and for dedicating her life and love to children. She spent many years as an assistant teacher with Fort Worth ISD, touching the lives of countless young students with her lively and nurturing spirit.
Her personality was truly magnetic—you always wanted to be near her just to hear a clever joke or a quick-witted comment that would make you laugh out loud. You could ask her anything, and she would always respond with honesty, delivered in the sweetest way. She was the heart and soul of her family—qualities rarely found in one person, yet she carried both profoundly.
Above all else, Maria devoted her life to her family. Her unwavering love and support were the foundation of their home.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 61 years, John Espinoza, whom she met at a dance when they were young and loved ever since. Maria is also survived by her son, John Espinoza, Jr.; her daughter, Dianna Espinoza King, and her husband Michael; and her daughter, Victoria Espinoza Bird, and her husband Christopher.
Her four grandchildren—Marguerite (Marti) Janice King, Michael (Trip) Crowder King III, Nathan Everett Bird, and Owen Christopher Bird—were the light of her life and brought her immense joy. Her life revolved around shared memories and family vacations. One of her most treasured accomplishments was purchasing a cabin in New Mexico—a peaceful retreat where the family could escape the world and simply enjoy being together. Her infectious laugh and radiant smile will be deeply missed.
Maria is also survived by five of her siblings: Elizabeth Soto and her husband Jesse, Magdalena Castillo, Rosalee Martinez, Martha Olguin and her husband Ralph, and her brother Samuel Ramirez. She leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arturo and Rosa Ramirez; her twin sister, Magdalena, who passed in infancy; her brothers, Anselmo Castillo and Gregory Castillo; and her sisters, Ruth Blanco and Rebecca Ramirez.
A visitation has been scheduled for Monday, June 9th at Laurel Land in Fort Worth from 6-8PM in the main building. A celebration of Maria Espinoza’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 10th at 10AM, also Laurel Land in their Main Chapel. The family warmly invites all who knew Maria to join them in honoring her memory.
The Espinoza family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Maria’s legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
