

FORT WORTH -- Marilyn Dawson Anderson, 85, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, in Fort Worth Service: Noon Monday at Arborlawn United Methodist Church, 5001 Briarhaven Road, Fort Worth. Memorials: Arborlawn United Methodist Church. Marilyn was born Jan. 26, 1930, in Navasota to John B. and Clara M. Dawson. She graduated from Lamar High School in Houston ande attended TCU, where she met and married Elvis Anderson. Later, after raising her children, she returned to her academic studies and received an M.Ed. at Georgia State University. When the family returned to Fort Worth, she became a licensed professional counselor and an alcohol and drug addiction counselor. Her career included working as a program director for Tarrant County Drug and Alcohol Program, Tarrant Council for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Care Unit Hospital and then at General Dynamics as its EAP. Marilyn served as president of the TAADAC and on several mental health and homeless boards. After retiring from GD, she had an active private practice in Fort Worth. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Elvis Anderson, and her only sister, Jean Oswalt Neal. Survivors: Her dear companion, Jack Gramer; children, Sandie Hampton, Rick Anderson and Kathy Bonner; grandchildren, Shawna Hampton-Riddle, Wade Hampton, Jessie Arnold and Melissa Burgess; great-grandchildren, Kai and Emma Riddle and Sean and Lucas Burgess; nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
