A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Sagamore Baptist Church, with Pastor Louis Curtis officiating.
Marilyn was born on December 10, 1942, in Jackson, Michigan, to James and Kay Clore. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Jackson, an experience that reflected the simple beginnings and strong values she carried throughout her life.
On August 4, 1963, Marilyn married Ken Cooper at Temple Baptist Church. She later graduated from Arlington State College with a Bachelor of Arts in History. She and Ken had two sons, Kevin and Corey, of whom she was very proud.
Marilyn devoted 33 years of service to the State of Texas through the Texas Department of Human Services, where she worked as a social worker, supervisor, and program manager. Her career reflected her deep compassion for others and her commitment to helping those in need. She was also a longtime member of The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, generously giving her time and heart to serving her community.
Marilyn Cooper lived a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and simple joys. She was deeply devoted to her church and treasured the lifelong friendships she built through her community and service to others.
She especially loved spending time with her friends playing 42, sharing laughter and stories around the table. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Marilyn adored her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories they will carry with them always.
Marilyn found happiness in the beauty of everyday life. She loved walking in the park, caring for her pets, gardening, reading, camping, and traveling. Some of her favorite adventures were visiting national parks, where she enjoyed taking in God's creation through hiking, bird watching, and quiet moments in nature.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, James and Kay Clore; her brothers, Michael Clore and Mitchell Clore; and her sister-in-law, Dolly Clore.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dr. Ken Cooper; her sons, Kevin Cooper and Corey Cooper; her daughter-in-law, Cristy Cooper; her grandchildren, Henry Cooper and Emily Cooper; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Marshall and Judy Clore and Melvin and Donna Clore; her sister, Marsha Clark; and her brother-in-law, Pat Clark.
Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army, 229 E. Felix Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76115.
