Marilyn Marie Robertson, (née Heicher), was born 21 June 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Ruth and Lawrence Heicher. She had one brother, Robert Heicher.
Marilyn went on to be with our Lord on the morning of 1 March 2023, at Bethesda Gardens in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 91. She married Howard Robertson on 18 October 1952, in Paxton, Illinois. Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her father and mother, and her only sibling. She is survived by two sons: Jeff and wife Jane of Barbados, West Indies, and Doug and wife Leisa of Berryville, Texas; five grandchildren: Marcia Allen and husband Oral of Little Elm, Texas, Andrew Robertson of Dallas, Texas, Rhonda Robertson of Dallas, Texas, Roni Robertson of El Paso, Texas, and Mark and wife Rebecca of Joplin, Missouri; and three great grandchildren.
Marilyn was a graduate of Paxton High School. After high school, she continued her education in Chicago, Illinois, at Swedish Covenant Hospital School of Nursing, where she would graduate to become a Registered Nurse. After the births of her two sons, she and Howard returned to Paxton, where she was a floor nurse at Paxton Community Hospital. In 1969, Marilyn and her family moved to Fort Worth, where she would eventually return to nursing, in Mother/Baby Care at Harris Methodist - Downtown Fort Worth. Her gentle, compassionate demeanor, commitment to patient care, along with her unwavering professionalism were hallmarks of the career she loved. Marilyn's life was exemplified by faithfulness and commitment. A devoted Christian, she faithfully served in the church - both in Illinois and in Texas. She and husband Howard were founding members of Southwest Christian Church in Fort Worth, and served there for over 45 years, many of those years - she was organist, and pianist. Many people, either from work or church - sometimes both, can testify that Marilyn's life was that of an exemplary Proverbs 31 woman.
Marilyn was devoted to her family. She and Howard were high school sweethearts, and married over 69 years. They were inseparable, and everyone who knew them, knew you would never see one without the other. Marilyn loved her husband, adored her sons, and cherished her grandchildren. For Marilyn, family was a precious gift of great joy, where things most treasured are found.
Marilyn Robertson left us with her beautiful legacy of love, devotion, compassion, and her incredible servant's heart. Even as we mourn the loss of this precious lady, we celebrate the life she led, and rejoice in knowing where she is now. We count ourselves blessed to have known her as mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend. "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me - practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you." ~Philippians 4:8-9
