FORT WORTH -- Mary Margaret Allen, retired church financial secretary, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was reunited with God's eternal family Tuesday morning, Nov. 13, 2012, in Fort Worth. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meadowbrook United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association of Fort Worth. Margaret, the oldest daughter of Jim and Mary White, was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Waco. In 1945 she married the love of her life, Ethan Allen Jr. They would spend the next 54 years of their lives together, the majority of which was in Fort Worth. Margaret not only helped raise three generations of family but maintained a significant involvement in the community through her volunteer and philanthropic work, and often opened her beautifully manicured backyard to friends and neighbors for swim parties for as long as she was physically able. Margaret joined Meadowbrook United Methodist Church when she moved with her family to Fort Worth in 1952. She had been a faithful and active member taking leadership responsibilities through her work with United Methodist Women, the Administrative Board, adult, youth and children's Sunday school classes, and as well as various other committees of the church. Margaret was a role model of Christian love and faithfulness as a mentor to youth through the confirmation process, Vacation Bible School teacher, summer camp counselor, Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, and many other roles as she served the Lord with her special talents. She was the financial secretary at the church for 15 years. In addition to being past president of United Methodist Women at Meadowbrook, she was also past president of Church Women United of Fort Worth. In recognition for her many years of Christian leadership, dedication and service, in 2002, the Myra-Margaret Circle of the MUMW was named in her honor. Her many volunteer activities include rocking the babies in the NICU at John Peter Smith Hospital, folding and sorting clothes at Eastside Ministries, assisting at the FWISD Center for New Lives High School, helping at United Community Centers where she was named Volunteer of the Year and literally giving of herself regularly through the Carter Blood Bank. Survivors: Sister, Kathy Lockhart of Tyler; daughter, Lynn Rambo and her husband, Leondas Rambo, of Fort Worth; son, Jim Allen and his wife, Carol Allen, of Keller; grandchildren, Pamela Rambo Sexton and her husband, Robert Sexton, of Fort Worth, Mary Hudnall and her husband, Coleman Hudnall, of Coppell, Rebekah Rambo of Arlington, Jeffrey Allen and his wife, Erin, of Chardon, Ohio, Glory Allen of Joshua and Ella Holland of Keller; great-grandchildren, Jeff, Kayla, Taylor, Caroline, Rylee, and the two youngest, Henry and Madison, who were blessed to arrive in time to know her in this final year of her life.

I offer my sincere sympathy to the family of Mary Margaret Allen. I am a co-worker of your granddaughter, Pamela Rambo Sexton. May the Lord comfort the family at this difficult time as they give Thanks for your life. To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.

Pam
