Mary was born October 2, 1917 in Alvarado, Texas to James Burl and Monnie Billingsley Kirkland. A long time resident of Charleston, W. Virginia and Washington D.C., Mary had a successful career as an executive for Bell Telephone Co.
Mary was widowed 60 years from Charles M. Hutchinson who saved her from drowning at the cost of his own life.
Survivors: Sister, Sara R. Landreth of Fort Worth; nephew Curtis Basham and wife Janet of Fort Worth; niece Susan Basse and husband Tom of Houston and grandnephews and a grandniece.
