

Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Barnes and Rev. Gerald B. Ray officiating. Private interment: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mary Jean was born in Fort Worth on Jan. 16, 1924, to Jasper Young Parker and Lillie Etta Hyde Parker. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1941. She married Dudley Gladstone Knight on July 15, 1944. Mary was a longtime member of Sagamore Baptist Church, where she had attended services since 1933. During World War II, Mary worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (sSteno pool), the Army Finance Department and Trentman Real Estate Co. When DG came back from the war, she stopped working to become a full-time homemaker. Mary also volunteered at Sagamore Baptist Church and was the founding church librarian from 1964-1972.
She was preceded in death by her husband, DG Knight; parents, Jasper and Lillie Parker; and brother, Billy Parker.
Survivors: Daughters, Jeanne Smith and husband, Carson, of Fort Worth and Susan Pieper and husband, Bob, of Longview; grandson, Matthew Alldredge of Longview; great-grandsons, Thomas Alldredge and William Alldredge of Longview; sister, Betty Sweitzer of Houston; sister-in-law, Dorothy Parker of Fort Worth; nephews, John Sweitzer and wife, Genelle, of Houston, Tim Parker and wife, Carman, of Weatherford and Dan Parker and wife, Jane, of Beaumont; niece, Joy Morgan and husband, Mark, of Fort Worth; and many other relatives and close friends.
