I knew Judge Dixon for seven years. I still remember the day he was sworn in. Courtroom #2 was packed with judges, officers, clerks and other staff who had worked with him as a prosecutor or knew him around the City. I will never forget how proud everyone was of him when he took that oath as an Associate Municipal Judge for Arlington.

He understood what that oath meant. Municipal Court judges are often the only judge a person will ever see. He didn’t talk down to people. He listened, he was patient, and he treated the person in front of him like they mattered. People walked out knowing that they had been heard, even if they did not like the result.

Matt was a kind and genuine person. He talked about his family a lot. You could tell they were the center of his life. He lit up when he talked about them, and it was obvious how much they meant to him.

He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Matt’s passing. I enjoyed working with him at the City of Arlington. Matt was a pleasure. He was professional and personable, too. My sincere condolences to his family. - Eve Inman

Praying for you all during this time. I didn't know Matt for very long, but my best memory is all of his jokes that he told in growth group at church. They were the best!

To the family of Matt, I’m so very sorry for your loss. He loved you all.
To Matt, you were a great city employee I probably would have never met outright but a chance business class brought us together as a team. We discovered a similar analytical mindset and a quirky sense of humor. The great banter of ideas we generated in the class were one of the best. Thank you for a wonderful friendship. Rest in peace.

I am so sorry. I remember when he first came he was a prosecutor, mainly handling Code Compliance trials. He asked me if he could practice with me for a trial he was about to do. We went into an empty courtroom and he questioned me like a witness. He thanked me and said he was really nervous, but he was brand new.
Later, he and his wife had their first son. He was so happy and showing anyone and everyone photos.
Matt was a great guy. Always very friendly, courteous and professional. I retired before he became a judge. I'm happy he was able to achieve his dream. He had so much talent to offer.
God be with you Matt and your friends and family who miss and love you.
Thank you for great memories during my time as a Code Officer.
