

Born on April 1, 1960, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Betty Jo McConnell and Billy Jack Lusk, Melinda brought light and love to all who knew her. Her journey took her from her childhood in Fort Worth to building a beautiful life in Irving, Texas, where she left a lasting legacy of kindness, faith, and inspiration.
A Visitation for Melinda will be held Monday, January 20, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76112.
Celebration of Life will occur Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Plymouth Park United Methodist, 615 W Airport Fwy, Irving, Texas 75062. Burial to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
A proud graduate of Eastern Hills High School, Melinda followed her passion for writing and communication by earning a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from North Texas State University. She spent two decades teaching ESL and Journalism at MacArthur High School in Irving, where she touched the hearts and minds of countless students with her creativity, dedication, and unwavering belief in their potential.
Melinda’s faith was the foundation of her life. She grew up attending Handley Baptist Church and later became a cherished member of Plymouth Park United Methodist Church, where she formed lifelong friendships and served her community with grace.
Beyond her career and faith, Melinda had a joyful and vibrant spirit. She found delight in cooking delicious meals, curling up with a good book, crafting beautiful embroidery, and playing Pokémon Go with enthusiasm. Her laughter, warmth, and sense of adventure were contagious, and she made every moment feel special for those around her.
Melinda is survived by her loving husband, John Korges Coalson; her son, John Jacob Coalson; her stepdaughters, Megan Irene Coalson and Kaitlin Lillian Coalson Kharat; her son-in-law, Akshay Kharat; and her precious granddaughter, Ariya Marine Kharat, who brought endless joy to her life.
Melinda’s love, generosity, and bright spirit will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, joy, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and faith. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all she touched.
