Mike Gunter, 69, passed away at his home in Keller on July 17, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born and raised in Fort Worth, the son of Myrle Gunter, a salesman and entertainer and Peggy Plummer Gunter, a professional artist. Throughout his 40-year career in apparel sales, working out of the Dallas Apparel Mart, the relationships Mike built were his greatest reward. He was loved and admired by countless fellow sales reps as well as his customers and women’s apparel buyers from across the southwest. Many customers have said there is no one they trusted more with helping them build their business than Mike Gunter.

In his personal life, he was a husband, dad and friend like no other. Mike always had a word of support and inspiration and would leave you laughing every single time. He loved golf and fishing and gave us many happy memories on the links and on the lakes.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Julie Gunter; stepson Jeremy Neeley (Nora); sons Riley (Morgan) and Cole (Kate) and grandchildren, Mia and Maddox.

Friends and family will be celebrating the life of Mike Gunter for years to come.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice or to The First Tee of Fort Worth.

Mike was the ultimate professional. He knew product, fashion and most important he knew how to communicate with retailers and fellow sales executives.
Mike joined the Sigrid Olsen team and enjoyed lots of fun with us at our many parties around the country. He made a major contribution to our success and was loved by all.
He was my buddy, loved him much.

I’ll always remember all the good times we had at the golf course or meeting after work to discuss golf, current events or whatever.
Mike was funny, opinionated ,excellent golfer but most of all a loyal friend.
He’d be there for you if you needed help.
He also had the cleanest car I’ve ever seen,it never seemed to get dirty!
I’ll miss him and many others will too.
Rest In Peace old friend.

Julie your words so aptly represents what all of us that worked alongside Mike feel. I think of him as professional, real, funny, a man who loved his family and always did his best. Michael and I will miss him, have missed him. Praying for all of you and your family’s comfort. We will see him on the other side. The Taylor’s

Dear Julie and Family.
We are so saddened to hear of Mike’s passing. We had many fun times just working with him buying for the store. Even though I do not play golf I was able to impress my husband with the fact that I know Ralph Plummer’s grandson. And what a golfer Mike was ! The only thing that brought him more joy was you and the boys !
Know that you are in our prayers.

I remember when asked by someone who be hiring for Sigred Olson line in 1990’s and I knew Mike well and suggested him for that job, not because of me but because of his reputation . A true friend, I know he trusted Christ as his Savoir

Mike was a great business partner and friend to myself and Dillard’s throughout the years. Together we built a substantial Sigrid Olsen business many years ago. Could always depend upon his wise judgement and fashion sense. He could talk endlessly about golf, the courses he had played, the low scores he had shot and the equipment. I followed him on Facebook and saw what an avid fisherman he also was. Our world is a better place and we are better people for having come in contact with Mike Gunter! God bless you, buddy!
