Michael Byrne McGee, 78, was born April 10, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Byrne and Adda McGee. Michael passed away at home on June 20, 2026. A lifelong Fort Worth resident, Michael will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude by all who knew and loved him.
Michael’s life was marked by steady devotion, to his family, to his faith, and to the work he found meaningful. A practicing Catholic with a close relationship to God, he carried his beliefs with quiet strength and constancy, grounding his days in purpose and gratitude.
He was, in every sense, a family man. Some of Michael’s greatest joys were the simple, irreplaceable moments of togetherness. Family get-togethers filled with conversation, laughter, and the comfort of being surrounded by those he loved most.
Michael also brought genuine enthusiasm to the things he enjoyed, especially sports. He loved cheering on the Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Cowboys, following his teams with loyal dedication and the kind of spirited interest that made watching alongside him a pleasure.
Professionally, Michael served as an employee of Tarrant County, working in the Juvenile Department, where he found great joy in his career. Earlier in life, he worked in broadcasting for several TV and radio stations, and he especially enjoyed his time with TV4 News—an experience that remained a favorite chapter of his working years.
Michael is survived by his wife, Dana McGee; son, Geoff McGee; two daughters, Teresa Lauren and Alanna McGee; stepson, Andrew Hasting and his wife, Tomiana; stepdaughter, Nickole Reynolds and her husband, Todd; granddaughters, Skylar and Ashlynn Reynolds; brother in law, Howard Hicks and his wife, Retha; sister in law, Betty Hicks; along with the beloved family dog, Sam, as well as many other family and friends.
