It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Marvin Paslay, who left us on June 8th, 2026, at the age of 79. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, and his presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Born on September 19th, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas, Michael Marvin Paslay was the youngest child of Marvin Willie Paslay and Aldyth Prater Paslay. Throughout his life, Michael was known for his friendly nature, never meeting a stranger, as well as his hardworking spirit and generosity to family and friends. After serving two years in the U.S. Air Force, he worked a variety of jobs before settling into a career as a cabinetmaker, where he found lasting pride in his craft. In later years, he worked at La Gran Plaza, where his skill and creativity could be seen in many of the things he built, including the Santa House and nativity scene, a round performance stage, tables, benches, chairs, and countless other pieces the mall needed. Michael took great pride in his craftsmanship and loved sharing pictures of his work with anyone who would look. He enjoyed piddling around in the garage, playing dominoes, Rummy, and Wahoo with his family, and trying his luck at blackjack and video poker. He also loved watching reruns of Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The Rifleman, along with The Price Is Right-especially the wheel spin—as well as Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. Above all, Michael treasured spending precious time with his family, friends, and "grandkitties."
Michael Marvin Paslay is survived by his daughter Christie Palmer and her husband Gene; daughter Jennifer Paslay; sisters Mardell Everitt, Annette Smith, and Dana Child; as well as nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, cousins, and many dear friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 46 years, Sherry, whom he met at a bowling alley in 1969 and spent many years bowling in leagues together, and his parents Marvin and Aldyth.
The family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of Michael Marvin Paslay's life, with visitation taking place Friday, June 12th, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and funeral service Monday, June 15th, 2026, at 10:00AM, to be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Road in Fort Worth.
The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Michael Marvin Paslay's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
