Milford was born June 22, 1914, to Oscar and Fannie Nowell. He retired in 1981 from Williamson-Dickie Mfrg. He attended Rosemont and Highland Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna; sister, Vera Jones; brother, Clifford Nowell; and nephew, Wayne Jones.
Survivors: Daughter, Betty Boyd and husband, Clint; son, Larry Nowell and wife Yvonne; grandchildren, Keith Brewer, Jason Boyd, Jeff Nowell and wife, Dana, Philip Nowell and wife, Chika, Allison King and husband, Jeremy, Jason Chrane and wife, Susan, and Rebecca Carr and husband, Craig; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Evelyn Brents; and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
