Mr. George Abernathy

George E. Abernathy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. Wake will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 from 5:30pm- 6:30pm. Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1pm. Both services will be at Gregory W.Spencer Funeral Directors in Ft.Worth. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park in Ft. Worth with full military honors. Flowers are welcome. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

George retired from the United States Air Force. George was stationed in Japan, Travis Air Force Base, Carswell Air Force Base, Tripoli, and Korea to name a few. George retired from the United States Postal Service after 45 years of service working at the Euless Post Office as a letter carrier. George never met a person that he didn’t ask, “Do you know the Lord?”George served diligently as a Deacon at Gambrell Street Baptist Church in Ft. Worth for many years. George also enjoyed ministering to residents of the Autumn Years Nursing Home in Ft. Worth in song and bible study.

Survivors: 2 children David Abernathy and Karen ( Byron) Stewart; 2 granddaughters Patricia Richardson ( Lincoln) and Madelyn Stewart; 1 great grandson Nathan Richardson. After his beautiful wife of 55 years Rosella passed, he married Dorothy Payne. Survivors: Wife, Dorothy; daughter Audrey (Gregory) Johnson; grandchildren Janine ( Anthony) West and Jeremy (Monique) Johnson; great granddaughters D’Nae and D’Ondra West
