

When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation and take me home what joy shall fill my heart. Bobbie Jean Gay, a longtime educator in the Fort Worth ISD, transitioned from earth to glory Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, in the comfort of her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Celebration of life: Noon Wednesday at Kings Courts Ministries, 1400 Seminary Drive, Pastor Chester McGowan, host, Dr. Bobby Baylor, eulogist. Interment: Garden of Eternal Rest in Skyvue Memorial Gardens. Visitation: Bobbie's friends may visit her noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday as she lies in sweet slumber at Gregory W. Spencer Funeral Directors.
Affectionately known as "Mama" Mama Jean and Mother Gay, she graduated from I.M. Terrell High School and attended Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, where she received her degree in elementary education and pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Alpha Kappa Chapter.
Bobbie Jean married the love of her life, Robert Milton Gay, and they remained faithful until death. She was an educator and taught elementary school for the Fort Worth school district until her retirement in 1993. Her interests and hobbies included culinary arts, patronizing fine arts and letters, reading, domestic and international travel, and volunteer service.
"Love one another, work with one another, help one another and just do what you can to help someone" was one of her many famous sayings.
Survivors: She leaves to celebrate her life, her daughters, Melva Gay McGowan, Sharon Morris (Paul Douglas III} and Cheryl Gay; son, Robert Milton Gay Jr.; sister, Katherine Caldwell; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
