Myrtle, a native Texan and life-long resident of Arlington, was a proud graduate of Arlington High School’s Class of 1950. In her youth, Myrtle worked for some time at Texas Instruments and later in life for the HEB School District. Myrtle never met a stranger. She was outgoing and loved to strike up a conversation and making new friends.
A good majority of her life, Myrtle was a homemaker. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Charles and a caring and loving mother to her daughters. Myrtle had a special place in her heart for pets and animals; she much enjoyed reading and particularly loved shopping at Kroger. Her family often joked that if she was nowhere to be found, they’d be able to find her at her favorite grocery store. Often great meals were prepared in her kitchen as old country music played in the background. Later in her life, she much enjoyed being active in all of the activities offered in her Senior Community. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend will be dearly missed.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Nix; her parents, Roy M. and Gladys Powers and her sisters, Francis and Dorothy.
Left to cherish Myrtle’s memory are her daughters, Katie Turner, and her husband, Don, Karla Frost, and her husband, David; grandchildren, Stephanie Pelley, and her husband Jeremy, Erin Turner and Kristopher Gilmore; Great-grandchildren, Landon Pelley, Baylee Pelley, Abigail Pelley, Jacob Pelley; brother, Roy Lee Powers, and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
