Joy graduated from Southwest High School. She enjoyed a rewarding career working with Arborlawn United Methodist Church for 14 years, and she had a passion for Jesus Christ.
Joy was a light to this world, not just to family but even more to friends and people around her. She was loved by everyone she came in contact with. She was a loving a loving grandmother, mother, sister and daughter. She had a special relationship with her mother Florence, and they cherished every moment they had together. She will truly be missed.
Joy is preceded in death by brother James Perry Whittenberg, stepfather Edgar Needham and her son, Hunter Wilson Tyner.
She is survived by her mother, Florence Needham, son Jody Denson, grandchildren Cael Hunter Denson and Livy Promise Denson, her sister Terri Carter, nieces Summer Cook, Jennifer Carter and Hayley Cook, nephews Jeff Cook, Cameron Carter and Aaron Cook.
A Memorial Service will be held at Worth Baptist Church, 4900 Campus Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76119, on May 15, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
