It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nellie Irene Wilkirson, who departed this life on October 28, 2026, at the age of 82. Nellie was a beloved mother, wife, and grandmother whose love, strength, and presence touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
Nellie Irene Wilkirson was born on December 17, 1943, in Silverton, Texas, to Earl and Julie Walker. Throughout her life, Nellie was known for carrying herself with unmatched dignity, grace, and style. She was a strong, independent woman with a determined spirit and a personality all her own.
Nellie was the proud owner and operator of Surrey 66, an automotive repair and inspection shop, where she demonstrated her dedication, hard work, and commitment to her profession. Beyond her business, she devoted much of her time and energy to the people she loved most—her family—and to her passion for aviation. Her independence, strength, and love for life were defining parts of who she was.
Nellie's greatest legacy will always be the love she gave her family and the memories she leaves behind. Her life was one of perseverance, devotion, and individuality, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Nellie is survived by her children, Rikki Hudgens, Alvin Brown, Donna Ables, and Julie Ann "Brown" Patterson; multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Julie Walker; her first and second husbands, Henry Roger Brown and Charley Wilkerson; and her sons, Jerry Brown and Tim Brown. Though Nellie has left this earthly life, the memories she created, the love she shared, and the mark she made on those around her will never fade.
She will be remembered with love, respect, and gratitude for a life uniquely and beautifully lived.
