Nora was born in Ft Worth, Texas to Aron and Virginia Welch of Burleson, Texas. She was the sixth of nine children. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, her precious son Jason, husband of 47 years Ronnie, four sisters Nedra, Inez, Brenda, and Patricia, 2 nieces, Tammye and Billie Dale, 3 nephews Jimmy, Danny, Gary Don and countless friends.
Nora married the love of her life Ronald Davis in 1970. Together they built an incredible foundation for their love to flourish. Their love radiated inspiration to many people. They had two children, Jason and Crystal. Nora and Ronnie were the kind of people who helped others whenever and however they could. They passed on that kindness to their children.
In her early years, Nora took care of many children. Having 5 older sisters meant she learned at an early age what it took to be a mother. She was a master at making everyone feel welcomed. She was a master of taking care of people. She was a master in the kitchen (she trained Ronnie too!). Everyone wanted to show up for Nora’s cooking. Many times kids from the neighborhood, friends, and family would beg to stay and eat. Somehow, she always managed to have enough for unexpected guests. There were a lot of good times shared for many years.
Life changed dramatically with the unexpected death of their son. Her faith was tested. Nora and Ronnie became dedicated members of the community. They volunteered at Bartlett Park BYA Concessions for 6 years (7days a week during baseball season). They volunteered at school dance concessions and several other organizations. Nora participated in the first group of Citizens on Patrol in Burleson and loved her police scanner. She was so proud of the knowledge she gained through the police department. Later, she worked at K-Mart and Albertsons. Nora and Ronnie did all of this while also working, taking care of kids and family members. The life-long friends that were met meant the world to her. She took pride in her work, family and friends. She worried about everyone and everything. That was just her. She worried for others more than herself until her last breath.
In her later years, you could count on Nora being in a nightgown unless she was at the ballpark. Baseball, Softball, Little League, College level; it didn’t matter what age, she enjoyed the sport. Nora found comfort in her faith with God. She was a strong willed woman who never strayed from telling you when you were doing wrong. At the same time, she would have your back in a heartbeat.
Nora is survived by her daughter Crystal, 3 sisters Evelyn, Janice and Vera, 1 brother Aron, her “girls” Amber, Brianna, Ellen and Jolene, 2 brother in-laws Donnie and Jerry, 1 sister in-law Mary, numerous nieces\nephews and countless friends.
