Evonne was born in February 1933 in Brook Haven, near Killeen, as an only child of the late Alvin and Lee Oma Phillips. She was a graduate of Killeen High School. Evonne married Joe Pate in 1959 in Killeen. She and Joe moved the family to the Fort Worth area in 1961, where she was active in the Forest Hill Jaycee Wives organization, and Eastern Star. Evonne was known as a great homemaker and painter, and a supportive daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Evonne will join in heaven, her loving husband of 47 years, Joe, and her parents.
Survivors: Her son, Michael Pate and wife, Diana Pate; daughter, Phyllis Taylor and husband, Dean Taylor; grandchildren, Bryan Prescher, Shonda Wagner, Phillip Taylor, Melissa Pate, Nick Taylor and Michael Davis Pate; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Prescher, Brianna Prescher, Zachary Wagner and Haley Wagner.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes.
Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth.
Visitation: The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
