Patricia Ruth Dill went to be with the Lord on October 28th, 2020. She managed to call each of her three children and chat with them before she died peacefully in her own home in her favorite chair. Pat was a fiery redhead, raised in the small town of Tipton, OK, and she often told stories of those days as if they had just happened. She had a deep love for her Cherokee mother, Annabelle Riggs, who was a great spiritual influence in her life. Having grown up in difficult circumstances, she learned to be a fighter and a survivor. She fought some hard battles in her life, and through it all, she was an example of someone who never gave up. She became a woman of strong conviction and faith, who loved all her family dearly and who took everything to the Lord in prayer.
Pat had many interests; her love for the arts began when she played the snare drum in her school band, and later in life she supported all of her grandchildren in their bands, plays, musicals and arias. Pat loved doing crafts, she was an avid reader, and every morning she walked with friends. She loved making her yard and house beautiful and always dressed with style. Pat was also known by her family as an amazing cook; she could make the best fried chicken, wonderful chocolate cakes and spectacular Christmas feasts.
Pat was always involved in her children’s lives, whether through coaching their soft ball team or participating in the PTA. She even earned the PTA lifetime achievement award. Pat was also a faithful Christian who served at the Everman Methodist Church for more than 20 years, from teaching Sunday school classes, to being a greeter, to competing in the chili cook offs. Pat also served in the Meals on Wheels program for years helping those in need.
Pat was young at heart with a smile and laugh that could instantly brighten a person’s day. It was her goal each time she went out to smile and talk to everyone hoping to be an encouragement to them.
Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Bobby F. Dill, and she will be lovingly remembered by her three children: her daughters Patti S. Cockerell (and her husband Dr. Tom Cockerell), and Pamela K. Brown (and her husband Rev. Kenneth R. Brown), and her son Robert C. Dill. She will also be lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren: Bree, Daron and Jameson Cockerell (and his wife Erin), and Dr. Joshua Brown (and his wife Rosemary), and Christina Brown. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Esther, Rachel, Joel, Emiliana, Flora and Juniper Brown; and J.T., Jackson and Christopher Cockerell.
Pat was an extraordinary woman who will be missed by all who knew her. We celebrate her life and rejoice knowing that she is with her loved ones who have gone before her and is finally meeting her Savior and friend, Jesus Christ.
The viewing will be held at Laurel Land from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, November 5th at Laurel Land Funeral Home, Fort Worth. The Funeral Service will be held 10 am Friday, November 6th at Everman Methodist Church followed by her graveside service and interment at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth.
