Patricia Ann Wassell

October 7, 1941May 2, 2021

Patricia (Pat) Ann Wassell, 79, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 2, 2021 surrounded by many loving family members in Burleson, TX after a brave battle with cancer.

Born Patricia Ann Long on October 7, 1941 in Phenix City, Alabama, Pat grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida where she graduated from Boca Ciega High School in 1959. After starting college that fall at Florida State University, she soon met the love of her life, Edward (Ed) Henry Wassell, Jr., shortly thereafter in December of 1959. Their brief courtship culminated in their marriage on June 4, 1960. They had over 59 years in their blessed journey together until he tragically passed away in June of 2019 after struggling many years with dementia. Pat’s own journey, when not focused on Ed, her extended family, and friends, was dominated by her love for and walk with Jesus, serving in many capacities at the various local churches she attended throughout her lifetime. She loved square dancing, ballroom dancing, singing, playing games and hanging out with family and friends whenever she wasn’t crocheting hats or afghans for others.

Pat leaves behind her sons, Ron, Mike and Rob; daughter, Melanie; grandsons, Brandon, Tyler, Collin, Brent, Derek and Sean; granddaughters, Tara, Meghan, Tosha and Kiersten; great-grandsons; Jaxson, Isaiah, Morgan, Jacob and Reid; great-granddaughters; Mirisa and Adori; daughters-in-law, Lisa and Shari; granddaughters-in-law, Joyce, Annamarie, Lilly and Cindy.

The celebration of Pat's life will be at Lifegate Church (601 SW Thomas St. - Burleson, TX 76028) on Saturday, June 5 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider giving financially to the American Cancer Society as they continue their fight against this terrible disease.

My husband Sam was stationed with Ed on Johnson Island in the Coast Guard. When they returned Pat and Ed lived with us in San Antonio. My husband is gone now and I think they are all three up there reuniting. I sure miss them. I have some wonderful memories.

She was such a kind and caring person. I didn’t know her long, but she treated me as though she had known me for a very long time! She will be missed.
