children to John and Margaret Johnston. He attended DuPont Manual High School, Lindsey
Wilson Junior College, Western Kentucky University where he received his bachelor’s degree in
English, and Webster University where he received his master’s degree in Business
Administration. Mr. Johnston served a distinguished twenty four year career in the United States
Air Force. He retired in 1978 as a Colonel and Missile Wing Commander at Little Rock Air Force
Base. His second career was in Fort Worth with the Newell and Newell company serving as a
construction supervisor, safety office, and human relations executive for twenty years. Mr.
Johnston was an original board member and owner of Riverbend Bank and continued to sit on
that board until his death. He was also a board member of Expanco Incorporated. Mr. Johnston
was an active member of the church throughout his life and a member at Handley United
Methodist Church. He volunteered his time as a DFW Airport Ambassador and as a supporter of
the Fort Worth ISD working with the Lowery Road Elementary School. Paul Johnston is
preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Toni, and his son Jerry. He is survived by his sons
John Neil, and Kevin, and daughter Julie; daughters in law Pat, Rachel, Janet and Kelli;
grandchildren Brian, Katie, Kyle, Annie, Max, Carly, Josie and Ema; great grandchildren Eloise
and Rachel Ruth; his brother John, his sisters Judy and Phyllis, a large extended family and
numerous friends. Mr. Johnston died on April 9, 2018. Visitation will take place at Shannon
Rose Hill Funeral Home on Friday, April 13th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will take
place at Handley United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 14th at 11:00 a.m..
