Born in 1932, he embraced every moment of his life with a mischievous twinkle in his eye and an infectious sense of humor that left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
Paul had a zest for life that was reflected in his love for pranks and his passion for golf. With a mischievous spirit that never wavered, he reveled in the art of a well-executed prank, leaving smiles and laughter in his wake. His wit was matched only by his love for the green, as he spent countless hours perfecting his golf swing and enjoying the camaraderie of friends and family on the course. Among the many roles he cherished, none were more important to him than those of husband, father, and grandfather.
Paul is survived by two remarkable women who captured his heart in different chapters of his life: his devoted wife Jan Thornton and his forever loving ex-wife Mary McCurry. Their unwavering love and support were a testament to the profound bond he shared with each of them.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Marilyn Turner, and granddaughter Elizabeth Nadin. He leaves behind his doting and loving daughter, his cute girl, Robin Byrd, who inherited his quick wit and zest for life, and loving son in law Henry Byrd. His sons, Stephen Thornton and Bobby Thornton, carry forward his legacy of humor and love for the game of golf. Paul took immense pride in his expanding family, boasting a legacy that includes numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored their mischievous patriarch.
Paul was not just a prankster and a golf enthusiast; he was also a skilled builder who dedicated his time to shaping the world around him. Through his craftsmanship, he left behind structures that stand as a testament to his hard work and dedication. His legacy lives on in the homes and buildings he created, a lasting tribute to his commitment to his craft.
His love extended beyond the realm of construction, as he cherished his two loyal companions, Peanut and Tinker. These canine companions were more than pets; they were his confidants and sources of comfort, providing unwavering companionship throughout his life's journey.
Always quick with a clever one-liner or a dirty joke that could light up any room, Paul had a unique ability to bring laughter to the most mundane moments. His infectious spirit will forever echo in the hearts and memories of those fortunate enough to have shared his company.
As we bid farewell to this prankster, golf aficionado, and loving family man, let us remember the joy he brought to our lives and the lessons he taught us about the importance of laughter, love, and seizing each day with a lighthearted spirit. Though he may have left this earthly realm, his legacy of humor and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May his soul find eternal rest, and may his memory continue to bring smiles to our faces even in the midst of sorrow.
