Philippians 4:13
Paula Cristina Tavares Branco Soares Guerrero, 55, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2021 surrounded by her family, friends, and church pastor.
She was born August 27, 1965 to Horacio and Maria Eduarda (Branco) Soares in Lisbon, Portugal. Paula and her family came to the United States in 1978 and she became a United States citizen in 1984. Paula graduated from Castleberry High School where she received her high school diploma with the class of 1983. She then attended Texas Wesleyan University where she received her bachelor of business administration degree with the class of 1989. On July 20, 1985 she married her high school sweetheart, Alex Guerrero. She began her career at Tarrant County College and later changed her career path after she felt a calling in the education field. After obtaining her bilingual teaching certification she dedicated over 20 years to teaching her students who she loved so dearly, as well as other fellow teachers that she helped mentor and grow. Her years as a teacher included schools in Fort Worth ISD, Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD, and Birdville ISD. As a faithful follower of Christ, the only type of love she knew how to give was unconditional and through her eyes the only thing she saw was beauty. She was also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and loved spending every moment that she could surrounded by family.
When Paula was not dedicating her time in the classroom and at church, she had a passion for reading, was an expert wine connoisseur, loved to play with her grandson Matthieu, and enjoyed binging a variety of television shows, to include auto racing and college football (Hook’em Horns!). She had a hunger for traveling, a yearning for the best food and margaritas, and could spend hours on the dance floor without a care in the world. With Paula’s easy-going, selfless, and friendly personality there was no stranger to her, she had countless friends in her life both near and far that she loved and cared about dearly.
Paula was preceded in death by her beloved father Horacio Soares. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her surviving family: her mother Maria Eduarda Soares of Sansom Park, Texas; her husband Alex Guerrero of Saginaw, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law Candice and Matthew Reis of Fort Worth, Texas; her daughter and future son-in-law Christina Guerrero and Mason Hopkins of Weatherford, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law Pedro and Cindy Soares of Haltom City, Texas; her grandson Matthieu Reis of Fort Worth, Texas; and many beautiful cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Paula’s funeral arrangements will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home & Memorial park at 7100 Crowley Rd., Fort Worth, Texas, 76134. Paula’s visitation will be Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 4:00-8:00pm. Her celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 2:00pm with her burial in the Veterans Garden to follow.
The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds.”
