

Porchia Lashay Smith was known to those who loved her as “Po-Po.” She was born on April 20, 1998, in Ruston, Louisiana. Her parents are Shawn Smith and Patricia Johnson. Her sisters are Alexis Johnson and Meagan Smith.
Porchia attended Ruston Head Start and later Glenview Elementary, Ruston Elementary, and I.A. Lewis. She continued her education at Ruston Junior High, H.F. Stevens Middle School, Red River High School, and Crowley High School. She later attended Navarro College and then Tarrant County College.
Porchia was an extremely bright person who loved animals, especially dogs and cats. She loved her parents and her two sisters deeply. Porchia spent half of her childhood in Fort Worth, Texas, and lived the remainder of her adult life there.
Porchia enjoyed reading, cooking, and watching television. She courageously lived with several health challenges, including an autoimmune disorder that affected her kidneys. Porchia was her father’s first cheerleader. As a baby, she would use her little hands to gently pat her father on the back, during his sad moments.
Porchia will always be deeply loved and missed. Her last request was for her father to take care of her little sister and continue to love her.
Other family members include her aunts, Kimberly Smith, Deborah Johnson, and Cynthia Ballard; her uncles, Bruce Smith, David Smith, Michael Smith, Terry Johnson, Walter Johnson, and Alfred Winchester.; her cousins, Amir Church, DeAndre Stevenson, Johnson Clinkscale III, Zachary Taylor, and Alfred Winchester Jr.; her grandmothers, Brenda Smith and Loretta Johnson; and her grandfather, Walter Johnson.
A Wake / Viewing will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134, US, on March 8, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134, US, on March 9, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
