He was born and raised in Dinuba, California, one of eleven children born to Teofilo and Emily Garcia. He later made his home in Fresno, California, where he built a life with his wife, Nellie and children, LisaMarie, Aaron, and Nichole. In his later years, he moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he continued to be surrounded by family.
Richard was a kind and gentle soul with a peaceful presence and a heart that held love. He gave that love freely and generously, often putting others before himself and caring deeply for those around him. He believed in life, in happiness, in staying positive, and in appreciating every moment, and he shared those beliefs often with the people he loved.
At the center of his life was the deep love he shared with his wife, Nellie of nearly 49 years. They were always together, always loving, always supporting one another, and always finding joy in simply being side by side. Whether they were going for drives, enjoying time at the casino, watching movies, or having long conversations, their bond was constant and unwavering.
He never missed a chance to remind her how beautiful she was, how grateful he was for her love, and how deeply he loved her. Together, they created a life filled with warmth, laughter, and tradition. Their home was a place where family gathered, especially during their cherished Christmas Eve celebrations, where she would make tortillas and prepare food while loved ones filled the room, sharing meals, stories, and love.
He had a strong faith that guided his life and brought him comfort and peace, and he attended church regularly with his beloved wife, Nellie.
He was devoted to his family and cherished his three children, LisaMarie, Aaron, and Nichole, and his sons in law, David and Lawerence, along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His greatest joy was being surrounded by them, laughing, playing games, and creating memories filled with warmth and love.
He also treasured his friendships and the simple joys of connection. He loved spending time golfing, watching horse races, and talking with friends whether in person or over the phone, sharing stories, laughter, and conversation that could go on and on.
He had a beautiful sense of humor and an infectious laugh that brought light to every room. He found joy in the simple things, flowers, gardening, and spending time playing games, especially with his grandchildren.
He was close with each of his children and loved his family with his whole heart. He never once raised his voice, always choosing kindness, patience, and gentleness.
To know him was to feel truly loved, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but his love will live on in all of those he touched.
