

Weatherford, Texas - Richard W. LaBoon Sr. was born on November 13, 1936 to the late Wade F. and Eunice LaBoon, in Oklahoma City. He moved to Fort Worth as a boy, achieved rank of Eagle Scout, graduated from Arlington Heights HS, and was deeply connected in the Fort Worth community.
Richard attended First United Methodist most of his life, where he was co-founder of the TV Broadcast Team that ran for 28 years. He also served as co-producer for 50 years for the Miss Texas Pageant. His career was spent pursuing his love of production, stage, audio and visual crafts, and was part of the Local 126 Union. His long career concluded at age 82 with a show at Bass Hall. His free time was devoted to his greatest love, his family and to his deep passion for animals.
Richard is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara Hester, daughter Melinda (Brad) Clemens, son Richard (Cheryll) LaBoon Jr., and granddaughter Amanda (Blake) Watkins. Step-Children Patricia Pior Green, James Russell Pior, Heather Hester VanKirk.
Memorial service is scheduled for 1:00pm, July 20th at First United Methodist Church, 800 W 5th St, Fort Worth. Reception to follow.
