

Bob Gabbel was born October 29, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA to John and Mary Gabbel and grew up in Homestead and Whitaker, PA. At 19, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp in November 1946 and served honorably over 20 years. In 1952, he married his longtime girlfriend, Dorothea Anne Easley, of Winslow, Arizona.
During his Air Force career, as a communications specialist, all his overseas assignments were at various Pacific Islands from the Aleutians to Australia. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant in February 1967 and worked for Federal Electric Corporation at Vandenberg, AFB, CA., Philco-Ford at the Joint Precision Labs, Pasadena, CA., and 17 years with the Social Security Administration in New York City and Baltimore, MD. He retired from SSA in May 1993 and moved to Fort Worth in April 1994. Both Bob and Dottie immediately got involved in Tarrant County Elections, serving as Precinct Chairman, election judges, and election clerks in Fort Worth for many years.
Bob was a life member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, National Association for Uniformed Services, and a Master Mason in Palestine Lodge 189 A.F. & A.M. Catonsville, MD.
Bob is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothea (Dottie) Gabbel; daughters, Roberta S. Campbell of Fort Worth, TX, and Patricia L. Kroetsch; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
