Born in Sweetwater, TX, in 1951, Rob was the sixth of eleven children gifted to Marion Randolph Rose, Sr., and Clarice Ora (Stevens) Rose. “Robby,” as he was known only to his Mama, is preceded in death by his parents, “Jack” and Clarice; four brothers: Marion Randolph Rose, Jr., John Wayne Rose, Robert Charles Rose, and Billy Dan Rose; and one son, Richard Ryan Rose. He is survived in death by his wife, Mary; son Jared; son Brandon; daughter-in-law Lindsey; granddaughter Everly; five brothers, Ronnie, Mickey, Eddie, Terry, Tommy; one sister, Tammy (Rix); many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, and nieces; and two granddogs, Shiner and Jax.
A devoted husband of over fifty years, Rob spent his life adoring and loving his wife, Mary. After a chance encounter in their hometown, Abilene, TX, the two eventually wed in 1974 and quickly built a happy life together, settling and living in Fort Worth, TX. There and in Dallas, Rob successfully owned and operated his own tortilla distribution company for almost thirty years. Throughout his life, Rob taught and exampled lessons of hard work and integrity; he always had open ears and wise advice for everyone who needed them.
Rob worked magic with a pool cue, enjoyed playing golf and chess, and told the wittiest Dad jokes. Family and friends most fondly remember his years as a quiet pioneer to men’s American softball, when he led the Abilene Cobras as a player-manager to a 1984 USSSA national championship. Rob loved his dogs, especially Jeff, Scooby, and Oscar; was the best brother and friend; and will forever stay unmatched as a husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law.
The Rose family would like to thank family and friends who have already been so caring and loving, while we all endure Rob’s tragic loss.
Rob’s legacy and life will be honored and remembered well. Memorial services will take place Wednesday, July 2nd, at Laurel Land funeral home in Fort Worth, TX (7100 Crowley Rd.). Visitation will be between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm; the chapel and graveside services shall follow immediately thereafter.
