Roger Allen Boggs, a proud veteran, dedicated family man, and a master of bringing laughter into any room, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on June 16, 2026, at the age of 79, where he was reunited with loved ones who preceded him in death.
Born on July 15, 1946, to Clifford Edward Boggs Sr. and Mary Lucille Rauch, Roger grew up in the close-knit community of Escanaba, Michigan. The values of hard work and resilience he learned during his youth in the Upper Peninsula guided him throughout his entire life.
As a young man, Roger answered the call to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He served honorably for three years in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer, achieving the rank of Private First Class. His time in the service, marked by grit and camaraderie, remained a profound chapter of his life, and he carried his veteran identity with great pride.
Upon returning to civilian life, Roger brought his strong work ethic to the railroad, where he worked for a little while, and then he and his wife of 53 years, the late Barbara Ann Boggs, were a maintenance and management team for apartment complexes. Barbara passed away peacefully by his side on December 29, 2020.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Clarance, Ronald, Dale, Douglas, and Charles Boggs and sister Lorraine Taylor. He was also predeceased by his son, Brian Allen Boggs, who passed away in 1975 at the age of 4.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Marie Tinsley, his son, Jeffery Michael Boggs, and his wife, Amanda Boggs. He leaves behind his sisters, Elizabeth Smith, Shirley Swenson, and Darlene Heckman, as well as his brother, Clifford Boggs Jr. He will be remembered fondly by his many grandchildren—Cory Tinsley, Brittany Tinsley, Kristen Rosa, Katelyn Espinosa, Rika Trevino, and Maximus Flores, and his great-grandchildren: Tristan and Kimberly Tinsley, Kalem Tinsley, Karsyn Comer, Kai’ia Espinosa, Hendrix Rosa, Michael Jose Lopez (MJ) and Aria AnnMarie Gears.
Roger’s legacy of laughter, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
“My daddy was a man with a huge heart and loved his family! He also loved collecting cars, fishing and listening to all songs and occasionally dancing.” Tammy Tinsley
“He was my brother and I loved him dearly. He had such a big heart and would always do anything he could to help or be there for anyone in need. I had the honor of spending 7 months with him after we both lost our significant others. He helped me in many ways and I’ll never forget him. He had such a great sense of humor, and I will forever miss him.” Elizabeth Smith
“He was a great man with a heart of gold! We have some great memories together and I will always treasure the last months we shared! Jeff & Amanda Boggs
