Ron was born August 30, 1956, in Kaufman, TX to Mary Louise Campbell and James Clyde Garner. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1981. During his service, he earned an Associate in
Applied Science in Avionics Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force.
Following his military service, Ron began a long and dedicated career with L3 Communications, where he worked as an engineer from 1981 until his retirement in 2018. He was known for his sharp mind, strong work ethic, and his ability to solve problems others couldn’t.
Ron had a natural curiosity about how things worked and loved to tinker. Whether it was cars, computers, or just about anything mechanical or electronic, he enjoyed taking things apart to figure out how they worked and how to put them back together. It was a hobby that reflected both his intelligence and his hands-on nature.
He was a proud father, grandfather, and uncle who loved his family deeply.
Ron is survived by his son, Christopher Garner, daughter, Tiffany Hughes, son-in-law Aaron Hughes, granddaughters Serina, Reagan, and Riley (who had affectionately started referring to him as “Bampa” when she couldn’t pronounce Grandpa), siblings Debbie Precour and Jim Garner, as well as many more family and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary Louise and James.
A memorial service celebrating Ron’s life will be held on Friday, March 27th at 10:00am at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth, TX. Family and friends are invited to remain after the service for a private gathering to continue sharing memories and celebrating his life.
Ron will be remembered for his pride, his work ethic, his sense of humor, and the quiet way he showed love to those closest to him. He will forever live on in the hearts of his family, but especially his children, and his granddaughters, who adored their Papa Ron/Bampa.
