Rudy Camacho

He attended Howard Payne University and Texas Christian University after serving in the U.S. Army from 1954 - 1957. He worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1992 as a Postal Service Investigator.

Rudy was elected President of the Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas in 1998 and First Vice-President of the Baptist General Convention of Texas in 2003.

He served on the Board of Trustees at Howard Payne University for thirteen years, Advisory Council at Truett Seminary for four years and General Council of the Baptist World Alliance for five years. Rudy sat on the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas for 23 years.

Rudy and Micaela established the Deborah Renee Camacho Scholarship at Howard Payne University. They remained active with the Hispanic Baptist Convention's Rudy and Micaela Camacho Scholarship Endowment Fund with the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation.

In 2012, he received an honorary doctor of Christian education degree from Baptist University of the Americas.

He is survived by family and friends, including wife of 56 years, Micaela E. Camacho; sons Rudy, Ronnie and Robert Camacho; granddaughter, Espi Camacho and Bruce Hilton, Martha Camacho and Julie Camacho.

He is preceded in death by parents Zenaido Camacho, Sr. and Petra Camacho and daughter Deborah Renee Camacho.
