Ruth Toni A. Johnston

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Handley United Methodist Church. Visitation services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Shannon Funeral Chapel at 7301 East Lancaster Avenue, Ft. Worth, Texas 76112.

Ruth Antonia Neil was born February 12, 1933 in Scottsville, Kentucky, third of the four children of Ernest and Carlen West Neil. She graduated from Scottsville High School in 1950 and that same year entered Western Kentucky University. In 1954 she earned her bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education.

In July of 1954 she and Paul Johnston were married. They first lived in Louisville, Kentucky while awaiting Paul’s call to active duty in the Air Force which came in September. She spent the next twenty four years making their home at several Bases across the continental United States. Following Paul’s retirement from the Air Force they moved to Fort Worth. Toni was an active and faithful member of the United Methodist Church throughout her life, most recently with the Handley United Methodist Church.

Toni took great pride in her four children and delighted in her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son Jerry; sister Charlotte Parrish and her husband Harry; her brother Ernest Neil and his wife Emma.

She is survived by her husband, Paul; her children, Neil, Kevin and Julie; her daughters-in-law, Pat, Rachel, Janet, and Kelli; her grandchildren, Brian, Katie, Kyle, Annie, Max, Carly, Josie, and Ema; and her great grandchild Eloise; her sister Marian Nash and numerous nieces and nephews.
