

Ruth Durham Price (A twin) was born on March 20, 1926 in Oakwood, Texas, to the parents of Jerome and Matilda Durham. Ruth Price was the fifth of six children born. She attended high school in Oakwood, Texas. She was joined in matrimony to Ludy Price of Oakwood as well. To that union, seven children were born. Ruth Durham Price, was commonly known as ""Big Mama", because she was a "Mama" to everyone she met. She fed, housed and acknowledged the feelings of all people she met. She was kind and attentive to every situation not only family situations but situations of friends of family. She treated everyone like she wanted to be treated with love and tender care. Regardless of celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries of family, everyone was invited to share in the activity. No no one was every turned away. Ruth was a Christian woman who modeled her life after her Savior and Lord. Like Jesus, she accepted everyone regardless of their situation. If you needed food Ruth supplied it; if you needed shelter Ruth supplied it. Big Mama was Mama to all races, creeds and colors of individuals. Ruth Durham Price was faithful member of the New Mount Carmel Baptist Church, where she received many awards. Ruth Durham Price, retired from Ridglea Country Club where she worked for many years in support of her family. Ruth Durham Price, was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ludy, one son Curtis, two daughters, Lee Ruth and Sheila and five grandchildren.
Ruth Durham Price, leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Vondell (Pearl) of Dallas, Texas, Lanell of Fort Worth, Texas and Jerome (Mentha) of McKinney, Texas; one daughter, Mary Nell Miller of Fort Worth, Texas; stepson, Billy Phillips; 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and numerous great, great grandchildren; a host of friends and relatives.
