Sally was born in Abilene, TX to Henry and Rudell Zimmerman on June 14, 1943. She attended Abilene High and graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1961. After dating for three years, she married Gerald Peters on June 22, 1961, in Abilene, Texas. Shortly afterward, they moved to Burleson, TX to begin their married life together. In 1963, they welcomed their first daughter, Ginny, and added their second, Christi, in 1966. Sally’s desire was to be a stay-at-home Mom. She was also an active and dedicated member of the community serving as PTA President, Campfire Leader, and Church Volunteer. Most of all, she was her Daughters’ biggest fan in all the childhood activities they pursued, especially softball. Over the next few years, she welcomed her Son-in-Laws, Tim and Robert, into the family along with her four cherished Grandkids. She felt very blessed to see them all grow up while supporting the majority of their pastimes and attending all their graduations and weddings. In 1988, Sally began volunteering at the Texas Commission for the Blind. This led to a 20-year career where she was the first point of contact for those needing blind services. She excelled at her job and made many friends along the way. After retirement, she enjoyed reading books, watching sports, and attending family events. Her family has continued to grow in the last five years with the addition of five Great Grandsons. Sally had a kind spirit, loved to laugh, and made a positive impact on everyone she met.
Sally is survived by Daughters, Ginny Butterfield (Tim) and Christi Whitehouse, Grandkids, Chris Butterfield (Jordan), Cameron Butterfield (Kaylee), Taylor Whitehouse, and Colton Whitehouse (Meghan), and Great Grandsons, Dean, Bennett, Wesley, Wyatt, and Hendrix.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Henry and Rudell Zimmerman, Husband, Gerald Peters, and Son-in-Law, Robert Whitehouse.
