Sandra “Sandy” Kathryn Sherrill Keeton, age 82, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away, peacefully, Friday November 28th, 2025. Born June 21, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, Sandra was the oldest child of the late Dorothy and Glenn Sherrill. Sandra was preceded in death by former husband, John R Moore; husband, Harold G. Keeton; mother, Dorothy Sheffield Sherrill; and father, Glenn Sherrill.
Growing up, Sandra loved school and worked diligently to excel, graduating at the top of her class. She doted on her younger sister and baby brother (Glenda and Gary). In her youth, she was on the shy side, but as an adult, she never met a stranger.
Early on, Sandra gained employment at a women’s clothing boutique. Because of her reliability, easy rapport with customers and impressive sales, she was soon promoted to store manager. Whatever work Sandy was engaged in, she was a dedicated and successful employee.
Sandra didn’t live to work, however. Her family was a great source of joy, as were the friends she held dear. Sandra enjoyed welcoming friends into her home and hosting family gatherings. Her home was inviting and warm. Sandra’s hobbies included: gardening, feeding a multitude of birds in her backyard, reading and writing.
Sandra’s greatest passion was ministering to children. She offered kindness and taught them about Jesus’ love. She taught Sunday school class at church over the years. Later in life, she truly fulfilled that passion, starting a Bible study in a nearby community where children were frequently out and about. For several years, her energy was focused on bringing these children to Jesus. She developed relationships with the children and, often, their parents. When this work ran its natural course, Sandra wrote a book recounting the experience.
In the last few years of her life, Sandra developed dementia and moved into Assisted Living, yet she continued to find meaning in life. She made friends with other residents. She loved the staff who adored her. One of the most poignant discoveries was her family learning she was singing—like they had never heard before! Sandra had the voice of an angel and in her dementia, had no hesitation in sharing her gift. We were amazed and pleased she found the courage within to share a talent she held secret for so long. What a beautiful footnote to a life well led!
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Jo “DJ” Moore Cawley and husband Douglas Cawley; grandson, Alexander James Moore; sister, Glenda Jo Sherrill; brother, Gary Wayne Sherrill and his wife Kim Sherrill; among other nieces and nephews.
