

Shirley Dean McClellan was born to the late Wilford Anderson and Velie Wade Anderson in Nacogdoches County, Texas in 1942. She was the sixth born of seven children. She was affiliated with Salem Methodist Church in the Nat Community and Mt. Horum Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.
Shirley attended Elementary and High School At C.L. Simon in Cushing,Texas. She married Clarence L. McClellan of Cushing, in 1956. From their union six children were born. Shirley and Clarence previously settled in Cushing and Nacogdoches, and later relocated with their children to Fort Worth,Texas in 1968. Following the early death of her husband in 1976, she later met her longtime companion, Henry Smith McCarty.
Shirley worked for many years as an instructor for Sears Driving School in Fort Worth, and Supervised a local business. Several years later she retired from Kindles Inc, where she built strong relationships with members of the East Fort Worth community, and was lauded for her motherly role in the lives of many. When she wasn’t working, Shirley enjoyed a good game of cards and dominoes. She was also an avid bowler and belonged to a nationally recognized bowling team, competing in tournaments as far north as Canada. Shirley loved sports and never missed her great-grandson’s games, nor the Mavericks, Cowboys or Rangers.
Shirley was an amazing cook who upheld the beautiful traditions of those who came before her. No member or guest of her home ever went hungry, there was always a seat at her table.
Shirley loved her family and friends, deeply, and actively kept in touch with those near and far. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford Anderson and Velie Wade Anderson, Her brothers, L.A. Anderson and Clifford Anderson; Her sisters, Lurlene Woodard and Hazel Jean Polk; and an infant son, Roger L. McClellan, at birth. She leaves behind to celebrate and cherish her precious memories, Henry Smith McCarty; four daughters, Sharon Diann McClellan, Loletha Faye McClellan, Sherrie Joyce McClellan, Cassandra LaSha McClellan all of Fort Worth,Texas; one Son, Lawrence Earl McClellan of Everman,Texas. One brother, Wilman Anderson of Dallas,Texas; one Sister, Golden Anjell Woodard of Duncanville,Texas. Seven grandchildren, Shamia McClellan, Kalena Parks, Shanika Clay, Crystal McClellan,Chloe Reed, Deja Kilgore, and D’hanin Bickems; great-grandchildren, JorDon McClellan, JaiRyn McClellan, Kennedy Black, Jase McClellan, Mckenna Henderson, Kingston Parks, Cassius Clay. Mahleigh, Dahlyn and Dash; Great-great grandchildren Kamron, Kylan and Kayson. Sister-In-Laws Freddie M. Polk and Jacqueline Shears both of Fort Worth, and a host of nieces, nephews, beloved relatives & special friends.
